Scripture: Luke 2:10-14
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly, a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth people to those on whom his favor rests.”
- A baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger — that is the sign that he is the Messiah.
- Glory to God in Heaven — and on earth, peace.
- Jesus came to earth in the most modest way; born of a virgin in a barn. Let us humble ourselves knowing that was the grand entrance of our Lord.
- All the Glory goes to God in Heaven. But on earth, we can have peace from him.
Heavenly Father, today, I ask you to humble me. Help me to remember the ways of Jesus — the way he came to earth and the way he left earth — were that of a humble Lord who did everything for the people who sinned against your Law. And I ask for your peace; that peace that surpasses all understanding; especially during this season. And help me be an example of that peace for others Lord. I haven’t done a good job of that recently, but I know if I lean on you, I can be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
