Advent Study Day 7

Scripture: Romans 15: 12, 13

And, again, Isaiah says, “The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in Him the Gentiles will hope.”

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Observation

  • Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would come from the line of Jesse, and that He would bring hope to all mankind. That prophesy was fulfilled.
  • Hope is found in Jesus. Trust in him and you will be filled with joy and peace.

Application

  • God’s promises come true. We must trust and believe in that. At church on Sunday, the pastor talked about the 3,000 prophesies that Jesus fulfilled and the out-of-this-world odds that those things would actually come true. But nothing is impossible with God.
  • Hope is found in God. He is the God of hope. Joy and peace stem from the hope that God gives us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for the hope you make available to all of us. Sometimes, even when the circumstances aren’t really that bad, it’s easy in this world to lose hope — and the joy and peace that flows from it. Today, I trust in you. I ask that you fill me with the joy and peace that only you can provide. And just as Your word says, please let me know overflow with hope by the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
