Scripture: Jeremiah 33: 14, 15
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that god thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgement and righteousness in the land.
- God’s promise comes at an appointed time.
- Only God knows when His promises will be made. His timing is perfect, and we must trust and believe in that.
- We may want things now, but God’s promises — like Jesus, the Branch of righteousness that sprouted from David’s line — come at the right time, and in the end, they are worth the wait.
Heavenly Father, I know I can be impatient. I want things when I want them. And our culture is one of instant gratification — filled with fast food and free two-day shipping. Help me to be still and know that you are God; you will protect me and lead me on the path you’ve designed for me. May I always know that patience is a virtue, and sometimes the wait is the reward. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
