It’s hard to believe, but this Valentine’s Day marked our second as a married couple — and with Charlie! Last year, we were saving for a house so we didn’t do much, although we did go to Chick-fil-a (always a winner). Oh, and David gave me a Kindle! 🙂
This year, we were able to celebrate a little bit more, and kind of took turns taking each other out. First, I took David to the Melting Pot in Destin for dessert (the best part of the MP experience, if you ask me).
We ordered the Chocolate Smores Fondue, which came with strawberries, graham crackers, marshmallows, cheesecake, brownie bites, red velvet cake bites, bananas and rice krispies treats. The red velvet cake and rice krispies treats were the best (I also liked the strawberries but David doesn’t care for fruit). The brownies were good on their own, but they were too sweet when dipped in chocolate.
While the dessert was delicious, our waiter wasn’t so good. He left us with empty glasses a lot, never offered to refill our coffee, and tried to charge us $10 more than our bill! And this was after he brought the first check that showed the correct amount — he swiped my card for $10 more than the bill, and then we had to wait for a manager to bother coming around to get it resolved! All we got was a semi-apathetic “sorry about that.” That’s kind of a big deal. I’m not sure we’ll be going back there anytime soon.
On Saturday, we took Charlie to the vet for his vaccinations, and to get blood drawn for tests. Poor little guy was such a trooper, so we took him to PetSmart to get some treats and this “cute stuff” pillow because, let’s face, he’s cute and spoiled.
OK, back to Valentine’s Day stuff… Saturday night we went to Cafe Tango, our favorite local restaurant for special occasions. We ordered the same thing we got the first time we went because it’s just that good. (Click here to read our review of Cafe Tango.)
I also had arranged for David to receive a personalized Valentine’s Day card in the mail, which he received on Saturday.
On the actual Valentine’s Day, I woke up and David had arranged these gorgeous roses and a card for me on our dining room table.
After work, we ate pasta bolognese with heart-shaped pasta I found at The Fresh Market. Oh, and we watched The Big Bang Theory.
The best part of the day was when I went to lay down in bed and realized that David had replaced my pillow with a new Tempur-Pedic pillow! I was completely surprised. I’ve been wanting a new pillow for a while, and it’s something I’ll obviously use everyday. The best Valentine’s gift ever. 🙂
