Goodbye 2011

As remarkable as 2010 was, 2011 was also very exciting and event-filled.

We started out the year living in a studio apartment in D.C. and now we’ve settled into our new three-bedroom

Less than a month into the year, David accepted his first offer for full-time attorney position, which brought us back to Florida. In the fall, he accepted an offer for the position he’d been hoping for. This was also an interesting year for me job-wise. I passed the official two-year mark working at the first “real-world” job I got after grad school, but as the year ends so does my time at that company. I’ll be starting 2012 with a new job with more responsibility, but I’ll still be working from home. I’m very thankful and grateful that this opportunity presented itself this year.

love our D.C. engagement pics, but happy to be back in Florida

We celebrated holidays for the first time as a married couple. We also celebrated my birthday in August, and a few months later we celebrated David’s birthday. Next year’s birthday celebrations will be milestones. We did celebrate one big birthday this year — the first birthday of Riley, my maid of honor Whitney’s little boy.

I traveled a lot for work — to L.A. in late spring, to D.C. in February and September, to Raleigh, N.C., in September, and to Singapore (yes, Singapore!) in October. We also took some personal trips: We went to Virginia Beach for a weekend in February (David judged a Moot Court competition at his alma mater), to Orlando with David’s family for a summer vacation, and to Nashville in December for a little Christmas trip this year.

Did I mention we bought our first house? That’s kind of a big deal. With that came a lot of new responsibilities — like buying furniture and hiring a pest control company. We also joined a new church — Destiny Worship Center.

Sold! This was taken a couple of weeks after we went under contract.

October 1, 2011, was our one-year wedding anniversary. We tried out restaurants in our new area to mark the occasion.

2011 was full of new adventures, new recipes (like this one), FSU football and Cardinals baseball (well, for me anyway 😉 ), friends, family, faith and new memories. All in all, a pretty good year. Cheers to 2012!

World Series Champs!
